The clear alternative to braces for adults and teenagers.

What Is Invisalign?

The modern way to straighten your teeth.

Invisalign uses custom-made, clear aligners to straighten your teeth gradually. You will wear these trays for 22 hours a day, and switch to a new set every 1-2 weeks until you reach your desired result.

At Thompson Family Dental at Nora, we can correct a variety of teeth with Invisalign, including crooked teeth, overbites, underbites, crossbites, open bites, crowded teeth, and gap teeth.

The first step is to schedule a consultation with our dentist in Indianapolis, Dr. Jiyun Thompson, which will include:

  • A quick scan of your teeth to determine if you are a candidate
  • A digital preview of what your finished smile will look like
  • Projected costs, including payment options and insurance
  • An estimate of how long your Invisalign treatment will take

Dr. Thompson will make sure you feel completely confident and informed before you officially commit to starting your Invisalign journey.

Injury-Free

With aligners, you don’t have to worry about broken brackets or pokey wires, saving yourself from pain and unnecessary appointments.

Effective

Invisalign can straighten many types of teeth in teens and adults, including crooked teeth, overbites, crossbites, crowded teeth, and more!

SmartTrack®

Invisalign is the only clear aligner system to use SmartTrack® material for more comfortable fitting and faster-moving aligners.

Invisalign FAQs

Answers from our cosmetic dentist in Indianapolis, IN.

  • Who is a candidate?

Invisalign treatment is available for both teens and adults. If you answer yes to any of the questions below, then you are likely a candidate:

    1. Do you have difficulty flossing between your teeth?
    2. Are you noticing signs of wear on your teeth?
    3. Are you self-conscious about your smile?
    4. Do you wish you smiled more or showed more of your teeth when you smiled?
    5. Are you noticing relapsing after previous orthodontic treatment?

If you’re still unsure, call our office to set up a consultation where we can discuss your smile goals in depth: 317-846-9444.

  • How much does it cost for Invisalign?

The cost of Invisalign varies from person, dentist, location, insurance policy, etc. To find out exactly how much Invisalign treatment will cost you, schedule a consultation with Dr. Thompson.

When you leave your Invisalign consultation, you will have a very clear outline of what your Invisalign treatment entails, costs included. If your dental insurance covers orthodontics, your Invisalign treatment will likely be covered, and we will take that into account.

  • How long does treatment take?

The average treatment time for Invisalign is 12 to 18 months. Your situation may take more or less time depending on the complexity of your smile and your compliance with wearing the aligners 22 hours a day.

Unlike braces that need regular adjustments by a dentist (more appointments), you will only have to visit Dr. Thompson every 4 to 6 weeks to check your progress and receive new sets of aligners.

Curious how long treatment will take you? Contact us to receive an accurate timeline.

  • Does it hurt?

Invisalign does not hurt. The clear aligners are custom-made to seamlessly fit with your teeth and gum, minimizing any rubbing or discomfort.

You may feel some tenderness when wearing a new set of aligners, but that should disappear within a few days. This is typical of any orthodontic treatment.

  • What happens after treatment?

To really bring your new smile to life, we offer complimentary take-home teeth whitening. You’ll be able to whiten your teeth at your own pace and maintain your desired shade of white.

Sometimes, due to decay or trauma, you may need additional dental work to finish your smile, such as dental bonding or crowns. This will be discussed with you, so there are no surprises.
